Vor einiger Zeit habe ich hier auf dem Blog ja schon ein erstes Bild meines River Twine-Tarots gezeigt, den Ritter der Münzen. Heute setze ich die Reihe fort, mit einem Bild der Großen Arkana:
Foxtail als Der Gehängte
Some time ago, I already showed a first picture of my River Twine tarot on this blog, the Knight of Pentacles. Today I'll continue this series with a picture of the Major Arcana:
Foxtail as The Hanged Man
Der Gehängte steht als Symbol dafür, festzustecken und eine neue Perspektive annehmen zu müssen - wie etwa, wenn man sich auf den Kopf stellt. Dabei deutet er vor allem an, dass es manchmal besser ist, nichts zu tun, die Situation auf sich wirken zu lassen. Es würde zu weit führen, zu erklären, warum die Karte gut zu Foxtail passt, aber es war so ein Fall, wo ich mir mit der Auswahl zuerst nicht sicher war, aber wo sich im weiteren Verlauf, während ich an dem Bild arbeitete, immer mehr zeigte, dass es eine gute Wahl war.
Bei dem Motiv habe ich mir erst etwas schwer getan, da die meisten Interpretationen der sehr starren Bildersprache des Rider-Whaite folgten und ich das bei diesem Bild nicht wollte - ein wenig sollen sich die Motive ja in die Welt des Rollenspiels einfügen. Nach einigem Suchen wurde ich aber fündig: An dieser Pose mag ich die gewisse Lockerheit, die sie widerspiegelt und die sehr gut zu dem Charakter passt. Das Setting in den Lagerräumen des Stamms und die Anwesenheit des Bewahrers Flutterby (die kleine grüne Kreatur) haben auch eine besondere Bedeutung für Foxtail.
Die Coloration war diesmal sehr schwierig für mich, da es viele kleine Einzelheiten waren - ich glaube, so oft wie bei diesem Bild habe ich meine feinsten Pinsel noch nie benutzt. Mit dem Ergebnis bin ich aber durchaus zufrieden, auch wenn ich natürlich Dinge sehe, die noch zu verbessern wären. M2 hat mir noch mit einigen Computertricks geholfen, das Mondmoos (eine natürliche Lichtquelle in der Welt des Rollenspiels) zum Leuchten zu bringen. Noch einmal danke dafür, Liebes :)!

The Hanged Man is a symbol for a situation in which you are stuck and you need to get a new perspective - for example by turning yourself upside down. Most of all, it suggests that it's sometimes better not to do anything at all but let the situation take effect on you. I would probably need way too much time to explain to you why the card fits Foxtail well but it was one of those cases where I first wasn't sure about my choice but it turned out more and more while I was working on the picture that she fits it extremely well.
The motif was a bit of a headache first since most interpretations I found were following the very rigid language of the Rider-Whaite and I didn't want that for this picture - after all, the motif should somewhat fit into the roleplaying game's world. However, after some searching, I found something: I like the certain playfulness this pose has which fits the character very well. The setting in the storage rooms of the tribe and the presence of the Preserver Flutterby (the small green creature) also have a special importance for Foxtail.
The coloration was a lot of work, too, since it was a lot of small details - I think I never used my finest brushes as much as I did here. But I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out even though I can of course see some things that could be improved. M2 helped me with some computer tricks to make the moonmoss (a natural light source in the roleplaying game's world) glow. Thank you again, dear :)!
